We will communicate directly with our external adviser network in the lead up to the merger to explain the changes to your client's account and the actions they may need to take.

In early 2022 we’ll hold a series of webinars for our external adviser network, providing you with further information on the merger and giving you the chance to ask questions of both Statewide Super and Hostplus. The following topics will be covered during these sessions:
- what the merger means for you and your clients
- actions you may need to take as a result of the merger and how we will support you
- a timeline of important events leading up to the merger
- an outline of changes to your existing arrangement with Statewide Super, including Third Party Authorities, fee arrangements and portal access
- an overview of Hostplus investment options and products, and
- the continuity of service to advisers
We will be inviting all advisers and their support teams to take part in these webinars and will notify you of details via email, and our website, once confirmed.
We understand that as one of our Associated Financial Advisers (AFAs) you may have a number of questions regarding the upcoming merger and what it means for you and your clients.
Below you will find the answers to some frequently asked questions. We will continue to update these questions and answers in the lead up to the merger.
Why are Statewide Super and Hostplus merging?
Trustees of superannuation funds must act in their members’ best financial interests at all times. This includes ensuring that the fund has sufficient and tangible growth to develop and leverage scale benefits and other advantages for the benefits of members and stakeholders.
One way to achieve this objective is through funds merging to pool their assets, in order to further enhance member outcomes.
Having undertaken extensive due diligence to examine all options available, the trustees of both funds have determined that a merger is in the best financial interests of their respective members.
When is the merger going to happen?
Following the trustee of each of Statewide Super and Hostplus formally agreeing on 9 December 2021 to pursue a merger, the funds will look to complete the merger on or soon after 1 April 2022.
As an AFA, how will this change affect me?
Hostplus and Statewide Super are working together to help ensure that the transition causes minimal disruption to your business and your clients, and to ensure you continue to enjoy the same level of service that you’ve come to expect.
Will I continue to have access to local support?
Yes. As part of the merger agreement, all local jobs in Adelaide and Darwin will be preserved.
This will allow us to retain our unwavering commitment to South Australia and the Northern Territory, and we will continue to provide our local adviser and member services, including the Statewide Super Hub in Victoria Square (Tarntanyangga) and the office in Darwin.
