Create the super that’s right for you

Investments explained

There’s a lot to consider when it comes to planning for your financial future. You need to think about your investment options, the financial markets, asset classes, and the level of risk you’re comfortable with.

We’re here to help

We’ve outlined some of the things you need to know about your investments below.

Investment options

Statewide Super offers ten different investment options to choose from, including diversified and single-asset choices.

Asset classes

Different asset classes make up each investment option, to help you choose the investment option that’s right for you.

Investment risks

All investments have some risk - even super - but some types of assets carry more risk than others. Understanding the investment options, the financial markets, the difference between asset classes, and the level of risk you're comfortable with can have a big impact on your super.

Risk level relates to how much the value of the investment fluctuates. The returns on higher risk investment options will fluctuate more widely and more often than returns on lower risk options which give a steadier, but lower, rate of return.

The value of investments is affected by many factors including*:

  • Movements in the financial markets
  • Government policies
  • Interest rates
  • Inflation
  • Performance of fund managers chosen by Statewide Super.

Once you work out how much risk you’re comfortable with, it’s easier to plan the investment mix that’s right for you. If you would like more information, book an appointment with one of our Financial Planners
