Statewide Super offers a range of affordable insurance cover including:
If you joined Statewide Super through your employer, you might not even have to apply for insurance – you may have received default cover automatically provided you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- your account balance was over $6000 and
- you were 25 years or older, but under the age of 65.
If you’re self-employed, joined the fund as a personal member, or you want additional insurance, simply apply online by logging in to your secure Statewide Super Online member portal and under the Insurance tab, use the Insurance review facility at the bottom of the form.*

If you were to purchase insurance through a retail insurance company outside of super, you may pay more because you won’t have the same buying power as a super fund purchasing insurance on behalf of thousands of members.
You won’t have to remember to pay insurance premiums, because we deduct all premiums straight from your super account. This will help your cash flow as premiums don’t come out of your take-home pay. It’s as easy as that!
Eligible members receive default cover of up to four units of standard death and TPD insurance and four units of income protection insurance. If you are not eligible to automatically receive default cover, you may be able to opt-in for cover subject to additional requirements. If you want additional insurance (for example, to cover your liabilities or debt), you can apply for additional default cover, life events cover or tailored cover to increase your insurance for death and TPD, death only, and/or income protection. Applications can be made using eApply, the online insurance application available in the secure area of our website, Statewide Super Online.

Insurance is provided by MetLife Insurance Limited ABN 75 004 274 882 AFSL 238096 (the Insurer). Insurance is subject to the full terms and conditions contained in the ‘insurance policy’ with the Insurer. A copy of the policy may be provided to you upon request at no charge. You will only be entitled to insurance benefits to the extent that the trustee receives insurance proceeds in respect of you under the policy with the Insurer. The trustee has a right to change the Insurer from time to time.
